NJROTC Rank Structure
| E-1 | c/Seaman Recruit (SR) Description: None. Assigned to every new cadet in the NJROTC program. |

| E-2 | c/Seaman Apprentice (SA) Description: The collar device is Two silver diagonal stripes. Cadets may advance to this rank after passing the advancement knowledge and drill exam, or through an instructor promotion.  |
|
| E-3 | c/Seaman (S) Description: The collar device is Three silver diagonal stripes. Cadets may advance to this rank after passing the required advancement knowledge and drill exam or through an instructor promotion  |
|
| E-4 | c/Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3) Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over one chevron. Cadets may advance to this rank after passing the required advancement knowledge and drill exam, or through an instructor promotion. This is the highest rank a freshman can achieve during their NS1 year.  |
|
| E-5 | c/Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2) Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over two chevrons. Cadets may advance to this rank after passing the required advancement knowledge and drill exam, or through an instructor promotion, as well as undergoing a performance review executed by the cadet staff. This is the highest rank a sophomore can achieve during their NS1 year.  |
